Over the weekend I had the opportunity to take some photos of the upcoming Helix figure, and here are some pics and my thoughts. Once again thanks to K. for letting me post the information.

Head:

Helix's hair is either black with blonde highlights, or blonde with black highlights. Either way it initially looks odd, almost as if her hair wasn’t painted correctly. But once you study it, it gets easier to look and see what they were getting at with the paint applications.

Another weird aspect, is her reverse eye liner. Usually women wear eye shadow or eye liner thicker above the eye, and thinner below it. Not Helix. She is just the reversed, giving the illusion her eyes are very wide and big, but in reality they’re the correct size.

Body:

Helix is wearing a tight fitting gray and yellow uniform, with a black “corset”, knee pads, boots, gloves, and webgear. Her buckles, studs, and pouches are highlighted in silver. While I'm not thrilled with the yellow, it doesn't look too bad in person---though I wish it was a lighter shade like on the IDW comic cover. But it’s passable and better than neon.

Sleeves:

This is a proto, so the paint probably won't be as good as the final figures. With that said, my only real gripe that will most likely be carried over to the final version, is, the figure’s gray arm striping on the sleeves. It's painted to align when the elbow is turned in facing the body, instead of painted to match the normal bend of the elbow facing front and back. When her arms are at a realistic bend, the paint details looks very “off” and patchy.

Weapons:

Helix comes with two auto-pistols that are a bit too thin and flimsy, a slightly oversized HK G-11, a blunt end knife, and the standard missile launcher and stand. Also included were a radar dish, and some type of black part, but neither my friend or I know what they’re supposed to used for. (Maybe the radar dish clips on to the blue missile, but we have no idea what the black part is. It actually looks like it came from a vehicle.) Her hands are also very rubbery, so holding weapons is somewhat problematic.

Over all she’s cool. She takes a little getting used to, but once you overcome her punky/goth look, she stands out as a nice addition to the team, and a welcome new face in the sea of boring repaints and Vomit Characters done ad nauseam.

Not sure I like the HAIR, BUT THE figure it not too shabby. I will probably paint her hair one solid color If I decide to buy her.

As a new character, I can dig the whole goth/punk look. It certainly makes her unique. And as the first genuinely NEW character -- not a older character who never had a figure, a "movie" version of an old character, or a character from another toy line -- in the Anniversary/Movie line, I'm pretty happy to get her.

Looks GREAT! Can't wait for her! Man, I'm so excited that we are finally getting new stuff! I mean, we got lots of new characters 'n such during Spytroops and VvV, but they didn't get to have unique accessories.

Good review 'Cat. I would be interested to see if after the movie merchandise dies down, if H uses the mold to release a Firewall figure? Even with the character out of play, it would be a back-filler so to speak and allow them to do a "repaint"/re-use of the mold.

Thanks for the review. I think this figure would be a great base for a Zarana figure.

LOL! Not without a new head that gave her those ridiculous pigtails that were here "trademark" look. On the other hand, as is, I too think the mold could easily be reused and repainted as Zarana.
