Filming of Paramount Pictures' G.I. Joe has begun in Los Angeles, and IESB.net has posted the first image of Dennis Quaid in costume as General Hawk. From the photo, it appears that Hawk is a four-star general, currently the highest rank an officer can achieve in three of the four branches of the U.S. military.

Editor's note: The uniform that Quaid is wearing in the photo does not appear to match any style currently in service by the U.S. armed forces (although it appears to share elements with some historical Air Force uniforms. Could it be possible that Hawk is an Air Force officer in the film?) Since G.I. Joe is set in the near future, the uniform may reflect a projected style or it could be distinctive of whatever command G.I. Joe belongs to in the film. I'm sure we'll find out more as filming progresses.
